As we enter my second year at Cavendish Close Junior Academy, I am extremely proud of everything we have achieved and the massive steps forward we have made for our children.

I am particularly proud of:

  • The 24% improvement in Year 6.  These improvements mean that we are in-line with national expectations for the first time in the recent history of the school.  This is a fantastic achievement and I want to say personally well done to everyone involved.
  • The exceptional behaviour around the academy and the much improved learning behaviour and attitudes in our classrooms which has also been commented on recently by the The Police Commissioner and The High Sheriff of Derbyshire.
  • The commitment of staff and how they go the extra mile to ensure the well-being and care of our pupils and provide them with a huge range of after-school and enrichment activities.
  • The improvements we have made in the quality of teaching which has resulted in quality learning for all pupils.
  • The development of the outdoor facilities for lunchtime, playtime and learning.
  • The support we receive from parents to ensure we have a partnership approach to learning.

We are still on  our journey of school improvement and our priorities for the coming year are to continue to improve our curriculum delivery, to implement the Harmony Pledge and further improve our pupil  outcomes.

We are determined to make our motto BELIEVE — ACHIEVE — SUCCEED a reality for every pupil.
